WILL THEY FIND A WAY?

The Detroit Lions are the first, and so far, only NFL team to be mathematically eliminated from a trip to the playoffs this year. This is not unusual news since it has happened every year since playoffs began, with the exception of the year they lost to the Dallas Cowboys in a shootout by the score of 5-3.

At this point in the year, Lions fans start dreaming and scheming about the prospects of landing a couple of high draft choices...perhaps a strong armed quarterback, or a big and quick defensive tackle, or a tall wide receiver with soft hands, or a new coach? No thought will be given to an offensive line that will pass and/or run block. By the way, very few quarterbacks have become adept at throwing completions while laying on their backs, few running backs are able to create yardage without some kind of purposeful blocking, and we already know that the subborn coach will receive a multi-year extension guaranteeing a number of years of mediocrity.

What I predict will happen in the final 6 games is this: The Lions will start playing with enthusiasm and purpose, and we'll witness a turnaround of sorts on the field. They will win 4 of the final 6 games and be close in the ones they lose, and once again give Lions fans a hope for the future.

Lions owner, Mr. Ford, will continue to produce cars that can't compete in the free market place, and continue to do the same with his football team.

What ever happened to Wayne Fonts?

Are there any hopes for an expansion team in Michigan?
